That was fascinating DS - thank you! Prior to compliance with CPAP, I developed each and every medical condition you outlined, and now epilepsy due to a head injury largely due to lack of coordination from OSA.

I'm going to copy your post and take it to my doc to learn more about my OSA treatment, including CPAP. He's had me on 12.5 mg of Amien CR for 3 months. It's really trippy stuff, but I'm concerned this may not be a good idea. Do the medical details you outlined above apply to both women and men? Cheers!

My experience is just the opposit. I took to it like a duck to water. I lost 25lbs the last 4 months, I can cover my face with the blanket when it is cold (saves on heating bills) I think of it as a divers mask, I can go places (in my dreams) without running out of air! or Darth Vader

IMO, sugar and its highly refined carb cousins should be banned by the FDA or at least classified as controlled substances.


And, I agree completely.

Avoiding grains ("whole" grains and complex grains are still grains) and milk and dairy products will help anyone lose weight. Grains are starchy, meaning that they are polymers of glucose (sugar). Milk contains lactose (a sugar) and hormones that pack the weight on you.

Nutritionists will eventually learn this.

Linda.....when I first started using CPAP, and started seeing it as an enemy, I would start talking to the machine right before bed.....saying things like "I know you're just trying to help me. I know we can work together on this." I know it sounds stupid, but it helped me not see it as my enemy!
To be honest, I still don't like using it, but I sure do like the energy it gives me during the day. Occasionally, I just don't use it, and enjoy the peacefulness of the night. But when the exhaustion comes the next day, I realize how much I need it.

Nutritionists and scientists already know! It's the food manufacturers that are going to have to change their ways.

It's the High Fructose Corn Syrup that's (partially) to blame for causing the huge increase in the numbers of people with insulin resistance problems (diabetes). They've been putting it in everything for many years because it's so cheap. They believe (among other things) that it turns off a "switch" in one's system that signals that they're "full"......so people just keep eating and drinking. "Normal" sugar has been around for a very long time and hasn't caused these problems to the degree we're seeing it now.

Whole grains and low/no fat milk are still good for you. You gotta get your vitamins and minerals from SOMETHING.
It's the refined (white) flours and foods made from those kinds of ingredients that are NOT good.
