Study - Repiratory Graph - Diffnc Btwn "Ap C" &

Post by Iwondered » Sat May 21, 2005 12:43 pm

Hi. On my sleep study results the Dr. told me that I had OSA with a Central Component. On the respiratory graph he pointed out the few "true" Centrals that I had, but said that I had Moderate Mixed Apnea and seemed to be more focussed on the Obstructives.

On the Respiratory Graph it seems to differentiate between (Hypopneas, Centrals, Obstructives and Mixed) and (the same + AR). I had only a few true Centrals but had a lot more Ap C+Ar. Can anyone tell me what the difference is?

The Dr. says that he thinks they are mostly obstructive in nature and will disappear with treatment? Is he right?

My RDI was 30.4

They are starting me on a CPAP next week with an initial setting of 6 and they say my Prognosis is Good on a Poor, Fair, Good Scale.

This is all a big shock to me as I am sure it was to all of you out there. Your input is sure appreciated....Thanks.

Centrals

I've seen quite a few people comment on these boards and others that their centrals went away when they got on CPAP. I think the centrals are caused by the obstructives in a way.

Thanks. I am still wondering what the difference in significance is between AP C and AP C+AR. Does anyone know?
