Mask Noise

Post by KHENAULT » Wed Mar 12, 2008 1:09 pm

I have the FlexiFit 432. It's starting to get to the point where the noise from the mask is annoying my wife. Are there quieter masks out there? I'm only using 8cm H2o. I'm thinking I might like to try some sort of nasal mask. I was looking at the Swift, but some of the reviewer complained about noise on that mask too.

Thought, Suggestions?

Thanks,
K

The Swift had an older, noisy version. Apparenlty (I have no personal experince) the newer verson Swift II - is much quieter.

According to Resmed spokesman on April 17 2007 in a chat trascript

What are the benefits of the new Mirage Swift II with quiet venting?
The new Mirage Swift II is 86% quieter than the Mirage Swift (Source: testing per ResMed using ISO 3744: 1994). In addition, the newly designed air vent directs air away from the patient and bed partner's face for more comfortable therapy. The vent has also been modified to direct air downward; in a direction more aligned with natural breathing. The Mirage Swift II also has a new blue end cap at the end of the frame to differentiate it from the Swift and also to aid with assembly/disassembly.

ozij the Swift may be quiet but isn't the F&P432 a full fase mask? I have always found the nasal masks to be quieter thab the FFM. I have seen others commenting on the noise from the Ultra Mirage and I assume the same for the Quatro. I don't know. I used the F&P431 and my wife never complained but we are both old and hard of hearing and do use a fan for white noise and the fact it is normally hot in Texas!

Hey I just found something good about getting old!!

The Resmed Ultra Mirage FFM is pretty quiet, the Quattro is even quieter. Both are GREAT masks!

NasalNoose I

The NasalAire I was the noisiest I ever used. Sounded like a kettle hissing before it is ready to whistle. Absolutely hated it. Swift II is fantastic.

I didn't think either the 431 or 432 were noisy - I am using an Activa nasal now, that IS noisier than either FFM. I started using ear plugs, ha. I guess it is all relative.
