Travel CPAP

I was wondering if anybody recommended a travel CPAP unit over another? I have a REMStar Plus (if I remember corrrect) currently which is a bt bulky to travel with. I also tend to sleep on a sailboat in the summer time and would like a travel unit to keep on the boat and run off battery. I saw an APAP machine that looked nice but have never tried APAP. Do I need a different prescription for APAP? Any help is greatly appreciated.

So long as you have one of the newer, smaller machines, which machine is not the issue. HOW you travel with it is the issue. See many other posts for suggestions.

I agree with capri, but if you'd like to try an auto, the Puritan Bennett 420e is a nice travel machine. I use it every day, but also take it with me on trips. You don't need a separate prescription, at least with CPAP.com. And you can run it at a constant pressure (CPAP mode) if you want, too.

I'll second the recommendation for the PB420E. It's small enough that I can stick it in my carry-on with clothes. The PB420E then doesn't elicit the inspections that the larger machines do. With the Remstar, more often than not TSA would take me aside and inspect the machine.
