Prescribing therapy is one thing.
Tweaking the machine to give the prescribed therapy is something quite different.

Doctors are sometimes even proud to "leave all that technological stuff" to the techs.

I am sure that by "tweaking" my Dr. ment adjusting the prescribed pressure a bit or changing from fixed pressure to auto and that sort of thing. These are is in fact changing the perscription. What is it you ment by " to give the prescribed therapy ?" Did you mean results or pressure?

Well, your PCP isn't supposed to be prescribing your CPAP treatment, anyway. Though in some cases, they do, and that's sometimes preferable to a bad sleep doc.

My sleep doc in Tacoma was very amenable to my request for an APAP, and I specifically said I wanted to do my own auto titrations. She was quite fine with that. And she's the head of the Multicare Sleep Center. So maybe she's a good one - check her out - Kimberly Mebust, Multicare Tacoma and Puyallup.

Barbra,

That wasn't my PCP. It was a Dr I was seeing for other reasons. As I mentioned above, she has been board certified in sleep medicine for 30 years. She is not, however, part of a sleep clinic and referred me to someone else for the titration studies.

I will keep the referral in mind - I was born in and lived most of my life in Tacoma - thanks.
