Thank you for this forum. I have been trying to use my CPAP machine and have been having difficulty. It feels like I can't breathe even at low pressure. I appreciate the encouragement. I will keep trying. Thanks.

I'm a side sleeper with a FF mask; I toss and turn most of the night. I use a regular Tempurpedic memory foam pillow. I do sleep toward one edge of the pillow, but the mask doesn't necessarily "hang off the pillow".. in fact, a portion of it is almost always sitting on the pillow. I do not find this to be a problem, and sometimes the pillow helps me seal a leak by turning my head a little so that the pillow 'covers' it.

Now using AirFit F10 mask; Quattro Air is backup mask. RemZzzz mask liners with both.

I sleep on my side with the quattro air. I find that if I place a small square, hardish pillow on top of my cpap pillow. and place my head on that, the mask will kind of hang over it and stay put. I also like to use a mask liner to stop the leaks.

jndwyns40 - You may need to raise the pressure settings on your machine - tell us what kind of machine you use and we'll try to help you adjust it.

I second the advice on increasing the pressure. Most doctors and equipment providers seem to think that lower pressure is easier, so they use a low start for auto machines and a low start for ramp. But most people feel like they are suffocating at 4 or 5. It won't hurt us, but it feels that way, and causs a lot of people to struggle. Raising the starting pressure to 6 or 7 will solve this problem for a lot of people.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
