Help with putting the denture strips between the lips!

Post by kjarels » Fri Feb 22, 2008 2:06 pm

OK I am going to try this for the first time to see if it will stop my mouth breathing. I know this is probably a stupid question but isn't the strips only adhesive on one side?? What do you do, cut them in half and put one piece of adhesive on one lip and same for the upper lip??

The strips I use seem like a type of dried glue. When you wet them, they begin to get sticky.

What I do is put lip balm on my lips, quickly run the strip through water coming from the faucet, dampen my lips with a fingertip run through the same stream of water, and then more or less center the strip between my slightly turned-in lips. Different folks use different techniques.

For me that didn't work - I just started blowing air from both sides of my mouth

So I switched to the J&J Hurt Free 2" tape and cut it long enough to wrap around my head & single-tie in back. Easy to remove but manages to stay put for me.

Gerald has a slightly different (and cheaper) solution I haven't tried yet - something about delicate release tape from the hardware store
