Casiesea,
To be honest, I am not at all convinced this is the right machine nor that it is set up best for hubby.
It is a worry to me that amateurs such as myself feel we need to question the work of professionals in this area. I would love to have a background in medicine & respiratory issues & how to improve peoples sleep. But when we use these machines some of us can get a sense of where they work best & what looks odd in how others are using them.
I would always say that the real solution is to work on the RT handling the case & do so with as much useful advice & assistance that people such as us users can offer. It is though disheartening when a professional handling a case seems to be making really odd choices & decisions and that some outcomes can be painfully obvious to an amateur. The mitigation as far as RTs are concerned (for me) is that there is so much to learn. Often the RTs never use the machines themselves & may have never used any type of CPAP. I know this doesn't disqualify them from recommending particular machines but it does mean many are doing so based on sales pitches plus their own ability to accurately understand the intention of a particular machine.
Having RTs who aren't on therapy themselves prescribing xPAPs to people with complex respiratory disorders might be compared to being like asking a catholic priest for advice on sex in a marriage. Some priests can offer very useful & helpful advice, some others wouldn't have a blind clue. Being a priest doesn't mean that some aren't able to become experts on the subject, but it sure limits the depth of advice from those who aren't natural experts.
