RemStar Auto pressure question

Post by Ross_R » Thu May 12, 2005 10:40 pm

I was only able to sleep an hour during my titration (about 2mos ago), a pressure of 4 stopped most apneas but I never got into deep sleep so I was perscribed an auto to find my pressure.

The auto is set from 4 to 10cm H2O, I have noticed that after being on it for about a half hour, even when I am awake it is up to 10cm and doesn't come down. I don't understand why it does this when I am awake and breathing normally.
I'm not really congested or anything, but I have been feeling some pressure in my neck lately, will be seeing my ENT soon about that.

Anyway is it normal for them to go up like that, even when I am awake?
Thing is it really never comes down, DME says the machine is fine, maybe it's me?

Thanks

Remstar sticks on high

Post by snork1 » Thu May 12, 2005 11:14 pm

The same thing happens to me on my Remstar Auto and I have yet to get a good explanation for it,

If its bugging you as you lie there awake....as it does me.... you can hit the ramp button on the machine and it will go down to its bottom pressure again, even though the ramp button is not supposed to do anything in auto mode.

I sure would like to hear a good explanation myself.

Hi Ross_R and snork1--

Read this entire post about 'runaway' pressure:

Probably results in more questions than answers, but at least you know you are not alone!
