sleep study results - 81 hypopneas per hour

Post by angimarie » Mon Jan 28, 2008 12:00 am

Hi,
I will be getting an auto -pap m series with a c-flex feature according to the doctor tomorrow, hopefully if my insurance responds quickly to the prescription. I am very excited. I will have the nasal swift mask nose dealies. In one month he will review the data with me i guess.

So, the doc said I do not have to come for the 2nd night of study because my sleep was horrible the one night i went in, he knows i will never get into a deep rem sleep there. (major anxiety issues here!) Anyway, he said when I did fall asleep, not even to a deep sleep that I was having 81 wake-ups of hypopnea per hour. Also, without even getting near rem i was having 30+ second apnea events, and he is sure i would be going into at least a minute without any oxygen if i went into rem.

The hypopneas sounded the most concerning to him. I am not sure why. I thought they were less worrisome than apneas.

Anyway,
here I am ready and waiting for my new life to start with some sleep!

-angi, age 39, not obese (albeit not thin either), with huge tonsils and a high pallette.

be SURE to:

-ask your doctor for a copy of the PSG results for your own medical file
-KEEP the original prescription (i.e. don't let his/her office fax it off to the DME for the machine, they can make a copy fax that and give you the original)

KEEP both of those items for future reference (you WILL need it).

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...
