Does anyone know what the difference(s) are between the 2 S8's?

Going by what we know of the Resmed S8 AutoSet Vantage and the Resmed S8 AutoSet Spirit: the Vantage is the North America version of the Spirit. The new, available in Australia only, Resmed S8 AutoSet Spirit II, is totally unfamiliar to most everyone in this forum. Even our Aussie members are not really familiar w/it or any changes. This is the first I've read or heard of a Resmed S8 Elite II. And I will be very interested in learning about the similarities and differences between the S8s and S8 IIs. I know Resmed has developed ResTraxx and I wonder if the differences have to do w/the reporting capabilities and ResTraxx?

I just saw the Elite II when I was checing out Resmed's Web site looking for a download for the Elite. I may email the company to find out. I'll let you know.

Presuming the same relationship between the "AutoScore" world model and "Elite" US model is maintained in the S8 II Platinum range, the major difference in the S8 Elite II for the S8 Elite will be the the two-stage impeller "Easy-Breathe" technology, which allows an even quicker flow response and even lower noise level.

See here for the Resmed AutoScore II fact sheet for Oz...

Wow!
... Available to clinicians as well as patients, ResScan is the software used to view all data downloaded from the device onto a PC. ...
Have those out of North America been able to purchase Resmed software all along or is this a new version of ResScan (I had heard a new version of ResScan is due out early this year) to be available to patients in the US as well?

Yes, no problem, as has been mentioned here several times previously!

The US issues around software availablity (and other things which are not a problem elsewhere in the world) appear to be strongly related to the regulatory environment.... your government at work for you!

Cheers,

Bill

Yep - what Bill said - I didn't even PAY for the software and USB interface - My Dr filled out a form so I got it free of charge when I purchased the flow generator and mask.
