Wouldn't smelling food make you want to get up and eat something?

I suppose anything that evokes pleasant memories or feelings could be relaxing.

Several people have offered this thought but so far no one actually using the product have reported food cravings. Hopefully that's not going to be a problem.

Jeff and others--thanks for your thoughts.

I'm kind of settling in on the new Basic Starter Pack II including

Calm
Strawberry
Vanila

Although vanilla is not my personal favorite I have seen almost uniform positive feedback on all three of these but at least some neutral or personal negatives (along with a lot of praise) for the others (except chocolate, which has gotten uniform praise as well).

On balance, this trio looks like a strong combination for a new Basic Starter Pack (not replacing the original, just adding another combination).

I'm still trying to figure out how to trial the AirCandy with pediatric CPAP patients. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. The intention is to give them the same thing in their cpap as most kids get when they have surgery (scented anesthesia masks). I think the flavors like strawberry, cherry, and bubble gum in particular will make it a lot easier for kids to use their equipment.

Try the Scented CPAP Mask with Pur-Sleep's CPAP Aromatherapy--CPAP Diffuser and Essential Oils.

New Scents?

Hey Sleep Guy, this is the first I have heard about them. Didn't see them on your web page. Where can I find them? Thanks.

I went to sign up for the newsletter and it said I was already signed up!
I either missed the newsletter or for some reason it did not make it into my mail box. Do they come out monthly, and what part of the month so I can start to look for them. Thanks!

Jeff

SleepGuy, I wanted to thank you for letting me participate in this trial. I've been using PurSleep for quite a while and it was nice to have some more options. Calm is fantastic! I loved that one. Strawberry is also very nice and I think the kids will like that one. Bananaberry didn't sound all that good at first but I really liked it, as well as cherry. Not too keen on the vanilla but the chocolate was surprisingly good though I don't think it's one I would enjoy all night. Looking forward to trying peach and stocking up on Calm so be sure to let us know when it comes out.

According to San Francisco legends, mayor Adolph Sutro brought the eucalytus tree to SF long ago-around the time the Sutro Baths were built. They are all around the Bay Area now--rather invasive in this environment--no koalas to eat them.

Hey the AirCandy might be good for weight loss---I've read about using food scents for weight loss---the scents were in a topical cream and think it actually decreased the desire for sweets---but check that out before ordering for weight control purposes.

I don't work for Pur-Sleep and do not benefit from sales of AirCandy and on & on....

Yes, they used to have these "weight loss aids" on that theory... but later on down the line, it was found to STIMULATE appetite. If you think about it... ever think you weren't that hungry and then get a whiff of something cooking and suddenly you were hungry?

I don't see why that would be any different for something like tropical cream as opposed to every other food scent in the whole world. But I suppose anything is possible.

All I know is that if I smell good food, it makes me want to eat it.

The theory was related to sort of a saturation point in smelling food. May be an individual thing; some people in my chef class gained weight, some lost weight, some stayed the same. Anecdotal evidence only but it was pretty evenly distributed.

I burn chocolate candles (actually they are on a candle warmer as we are not allowed to have open flames at work) and it seems to curb my hunger -- but now talk about stress -- a sure fire way to get me to eat!!

Last night I was getting ready for bed. My granddaughter was spending the night and asked what all the pretty blue bottles were. I told her that is what makes my bedroom smell good. She is not on cpap -- but she said it wasn't fair that grandma had all the good stuff to smell!!!

So I asked her if she wanted a couple of drops put on a pad for her and she could stick under her pillowcase on top of her pillow and she would then be able to smell it. She nodded yes and so I let her pick which scent she liked -- she liked the vanilla. Put a couple of drops on a pad and she stuck between her pillow case and pillow and was talking this morning how she loved it!!

She likes the following scents in the following order
1. chocolate
2. vanilla
3. bananaberry
4. peach
5. blueberry
6. strawberry

I thought you might like another kid's perspective. I wonder if they could help calm a fussy child that didn't want to go to sleep by putting a dab on a pad and placing under the pillowcase like I did with my granddaughter. I might have my kids try it on some of my other grandkids and see what happens. Who knows sleepguy -- you might have another outlet to regular kids that want a little something extra at bedtime!!!

Travel Trial

Post by Guest » Sun Feb 10, 2008 4:14 pm

Greetings,
I was a lucky winner of Travel Trial pack. WooHoo! Clear, Peace and Spice.

The scents are very nice, as good as what I would get from the aromatherapy/apothocary store. But already blended into some great combos.

The price is about right. I pay $5-$8 per bottle. and $30 retail for a trial sample, WOW! You went all out. I was expecting something akin to scratch and sniff samples.

The diffuser and pads are pretty. I love the midnight blue theme. I don't know what it would add to the cost, but how about a screen printed web address on the pads? Handy for reordering....

Clear: I was feeling a bit 'sinusy' so I put a few drops on the first pad a placed it on top of my computer monitor until bedtime. ssssssnnnnniiiiifffff. very nice clearing action there! Those three big drops lasted for 3 nights.

Peace: This time I learned, and put 3 swipes, not big drops on the pad. I was really hoping this wouldn't smell like Gram's drawers, and it doesn't. Not quite so 'floral', which sounds weird for a flower scent. Drifted off fast, like I was sinking into sleep. Lasted 2 nights.

Spice: This one reminds me of the Holidays and nothing at all like citrus cleaner. Dark dried oranges though a bit too heavy on the cloves for me. Only had the pad down for one night, but the scent remains in my mask for another 3 days to my dismay.

Clear clearly wins for me. I'd be happy to trade out the Peace and Spice.
Thanks,
Bryanna

Carol, sorry for taking so long to acknowledge this post. Yes, this is an excellent idea, something that I have tried with my kids as well. I bought some double-sided foam tape squares and my oldest son put a pad right on his headboard, right above his head. He trades off between Creme and Fresh and it really helps him calm down.

I am definitely planning on expanding PurSleep into non-CPAP markets as a SleepAromatherapy line of products as soon as time and money permit. The DreamWeaver lavender lotion is my first attempt in this direction (do you have any of that?). I am planning another trial along these lines but probably not until this summer.

Right now I am focusing on getting the seven new aromatics to market! I will be adding an AirCandy Pack of all 6 oils and 6 pads as well as a new Basic Starter Pack containing Calm, Strawberry and something else (not quite sure but the vanilla seems like the top runner). I will also be adding an Ultumate Starter Pack that includes all 16 aromatics, 16 pads, and a travel case.

I haven't had my kids try it on the grandkids yet as I have been really sick this week. Still plan on doing that.

I really think at some point you will be able to establish a corner of the market. Are there any local shops willing to put your product in them for retail?

I have some of your brochures still and need to hand some more out as soon as I am up to it.

For those who have been contacting me about this--

PurSleep finally has inventory in stock of the new products that came out of this project--

Six new AirCandy fragrances (French Vanilla, Dark Chocolate, Strawberry, Black Cherry, Peach, and Bubblegum), an AirCandy Six-Pack, Calm essential oil blend, a Basic Starter Pack II (Calm+Strawberry+French Vanilla), and an Ultimate Starter Pack (All 16 aromatics, 2 diffusers, travel case).

As to earlier comments about food cravings, people who reported on this issue said that the aromatics actually satisfied cravings--at least no one admitted to an uncontrollable midnight dash to the grocery store!

Thanks very much to everyone who helped develop some excellent new products!
