Well the last two days my asthma has been acting up -- not bad just a reminder that I still have it.
I called the doctor and had them call me in a new inhaler -- albuterol as I couldn't find my inhaler and it was a couple of years old.
Was I in for a shock -- an albuterol inhaler was $25.00

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

KansasRT - about GERD....
I'm so sick of people on this forum telling me I have GERD.
I really don't think I have it. However. I'm so annoyed by people telling me I have it, I'm right this second contemplating an experiment. I do have a scrip in my medicine chest for Rantidine (sp?) which I've only taken once. I COULD start taking it every night and see if I suddenly feel like a new boy. Er, Girl.
Quiet would be nice. On so many levels.
I suppose it won't kill me to try the experiment for a few weeks. I own the drugs.
Why do I have it? Because it's on my PCP's computerized model of who gets to get a sleep study. You must check "I have GERD" before they let you take a sleep study. And thus, they automatically spit out GERD medicine at you. Why can't I just do this online? What do I need HER for?
Okay, off to pop yet more drugs....
BTW, anyone else now following that new procedure that Slinky posted about the order of your asthma inhalers? I am. I don't notice any difference. BUT, yesterday was the last of my Allegra-D from the "lung infection" a few weeks ago. Could be that was masking everything else with it's fine layer of Perkiness. Of course, the Perkiness is offset by the INCREDIBLY DRY EYES.
Off to pretend I have GERD for awhile,
Babs

I must of missed Slinky's post about the inhalers.
I was shocked as albuterol has always been really inexpensive here -- yet I will admit that it had been a couple of years since I had a script filled for it.
Friday I called the doctor's office and told her I needed a new script and when I had it filled I asked about the price increase.
I was told that they (drug companies) took out the hydrocarbons and so there are no generics in the albuterol that they have all moved to name brand thus the increase in price.
That is a rip in my opinion!!!

asthma
Asthma can be triggered by many things.
Sometimes allergies are involved.
My wife had severe asthma on 2 separate occasions, the last of which included several trips tothe er for treatments and being prescribed a nnebulizer for home use.
We had to have our dog put to sleep and noticed that in a few weeks the asthma went away.
It has not returned.
Could it be your dog or cat?
It is in many cases.
How many here with asthma have pets?
Another is attributed to the hygeine hypothesis. This results from our obsession with cleanliness and not letting our body be challenged with minor infectionis and interfering with minor infectinos with antibiotics.
This is probably a much bigger thing than many realize.

Duh -- Babs yes I read it and remember it now -- I guess I was having a senior moment!!
I think for many of us there is more involved than just pets. I am allergic to many environmental factors as well and so have decided to make the best of it otherwise in my allergist opinion move to an isolated area and live in a stark environment devoid of most creature comforts.
