Best full-face mask for high pressure (20)

Post by BigGayBert » Fri Dec 28, 2007 12:45 pm

Hi All,

I have had UPPP surgery and consequently my pressure has gone up to 20! I am trying to get in to see my neurologist to talk about getting a bipap, but in the meantime I have a question about full-face masks.

I have the Activa and I absolutely love it, but I need a full-face mask because I have terrible allergies and am congested a good bit. I currently have the Quattro, which works great while I first put it on and hit the ramp button (it's set at 10), but as the pressure gets above 15, it starts to leak around my cheeks no matter how tight I wrench down the straps. Luckily I haven't needed the Quattro yet, but I've been trying to wear it for practice. I have to say that it is WAY quieter than the Activa, but the Activa can handle the high pressure with no problems at all.

Does anyone out there have a suggestion for a full-face mask that can handle the kind of pressure I need? Has anyone with high pressure had success with a hybrid? I have tried out the Breeze and really hated it, but I am still willing to try out something with nasal pillows. I think that my nostrils are kind of narrow.

Thanks to all for your input!

My first mask is still my favorite, Ultra Mirage Full Face. I never have any leak issues with it even at high pressures. But, I know this really depends on the shape of one's face as well.

Are you treating your nasal allergies? A good allergist might be helpful.

I am. Zyrtec and Flonase (4 times a day!) are a huge help, however Atlanta is a terrible place to live, allergy-wise. It is a wonderful city, but it is full of pollen, mold, and smog.

I appreciate your advice!

I noticed in your sig that you also use the Quattro. Do you find that the Ultra Mirage is significantly different from the Quattro?

Thanks!

My UMFF mask leaked like crazy for a month or two until I "broke in" the cushion. Maybe you will have the same luck with the Quattro?

BTW, awesome user name.

I liked the Quatro when I first got it, but for some reason it started making the bridge of my nose sore. I've adjusted and readjusted, still cannot seem to get comfortable with it again. Crazy, I know!
