CPAP, Auto-PAP or Bi-PAP? Wonder which machine to get? Which is best for you?
Get an Auto Bi-PAP and never having to wonder again. With an Auto Bi-PAP, you have all 3 types of machines rolled into one. Here's why:
(1) It can work like a CPAP by setting IPAP = EPAP.
(2) It can work like a regular Bi-PAP by selecting fixed scalar EPAP & IPAP.
(3) It can even work like an Auto-PAP if you let the EPAP & IPAP ranges "touch".
Lemme explain (3): In a regular Bi-PAP, EPAP and IPAP are fixed scalar values, say, EPAP = 8 and IPAP = 16. Not so with Auto Bi-PAP, IPAP and EPAP become ranges of values, say, EPAP = 8 to 10 and IPAP = 14 to 16. Now, if you let the 2 ranges "touch", i.e., EPAP = 8 to 12 and IPAP = 12 to 16, voila, you got yourself and Auto-PAP with a setting of 16/8 if you haven't completely confuse the heck outta the machine. Maybe someone with an Auto Bi-PAP can check this out to see if this is really a deal or a dud.
