Hi pressure setting and facial setting

Post by dougn » Fri Dec 21, 2007 4:26 pm

Hi, I have been using a REMstar for about a year and have only slept through the night once or twice while wearing the mask. My pressure is set at 11 which seems a bit high but after wearing the resmed 1/2 face comfort gel mask for a couple oh hours I wake up with facial setting and have to remove the mask. Does anyone have any suggestions to remedy this or have experienced this and have a remedy?

It would help if you would register and fill out your profile with the exact mask, machine etc you are using. Firstly, Respironics makes the Comfort Gel nasal mask not ResMed. I also do not understand what you mean by facial setting??? Please clarify and maybe we can help more.

Also, 11 cmh2o is a rather medium pressure; it is not "a bit high", and "1/2 face" is not a normal description for a mask.

The mask is a Resmed Mirage Activa Nasal Mask. Glad to hear 11 is not a high setting, my comment was based on other people I know using a CPAP are in the 8 to 9 range

A general remedy is "try other masks".

And what do you mean by "facial setting" ?

hmm, perhaps he means sweating? That could be due to a humidifier that is turned up to high. I don't know, I'm just taking stab in the dark on this one as to what is meant.

Since you're using a "nasal" mask (Activa), my guess is that you're leaking air out your mouth and nullifying your therapy.

Ever wake up with a dry mouth? That would be a clue.

Tape your mouth shut, Polident adhesive denture strips or a full face mask are about the surest solutions.
