Yep, I've had those "eureka" moments as well, only to find out that later things were not as good as they were when I first tried something new. My Quattro mask is the best example--loved it when I got it, used it for almost a month, then it started huring my nose (?). I've adjusted and adjusted and readjusted to no avail. Even tried it again a few nights ago; woke up and put my Mirage FF on--Quattro just isn't comfortable to me anymore (maybe my nose grew--though I've been trying to always tell the truth :<).

My latest "aha" moment is my new Swift II nasal interface--last night was the first night, it was GREAT!! Just hoping this continues!!

Country.....

Rested Gal's panty-hose tights are a wonderous device for those of us who pursue the low AHI scores.

The legs of tights are cool, very stretchy, and can be sewn into any creation you can dream up.

Their purpose is to add gentle, stabilizing pressure to whatever point you need it. Some use it to stabilize their masks......others to make the seal better, and some (like me) use it to make sure mouth tape doesn't blow off.

Start by figuring out "where" you need pressure....and which "direction" force needs to be applied. Then, decide "how much force" needs to be applied.

Cut off one leg from a pair of tights.

Put the tights leg into position....gather it so that you've got enough tightness.....then, determine "where & how" it needs to be sewn.

Right now, I'm using tights in a wrap that goes around my mouth (to hold the masking-tape in place).....and continues around the back of my neck.

Another part of the same assembly is a section of tights sewn at one cheek area, extending up and around the top of the back of my head, and down to the other cheek area. This stabilizer section keeps everything in place during the night......and my mouth tape doesn't leak.

My score last night was 0.0.......my score for the previous night was 0.1.

Rested Gal is the "Master".........

Thanks Gerald!
Another question: Does that material sew easily? Do you just go over it with a couple runs with a machine?

Country.....

You touched on probably the biggest problem with tights....sewing. The stuff doesn't sew very well......at least, that's what we've experienced.

Our difficulty may be caused by a number of factors....thread....machine needle....or, the tights material itself. We aren't sure.

We have found that sandwiching the tights between two layers of regular fabric makes things sew together better....so, you might find it easier that way.

Finally......we use the whole leg.....in other words, the width we use is an uncut "tube"......a double layer. The stuff is so thin....and so stretchy....that a double thickness is better.

Working with a "leg" section is sort-of like messing with a long piece of 3" wide stretchy sausage casing.......you just cut off the length of casing you need.....and sew 'er up!

BTW, I'm having good luck with 2" wide Blue "Delicate Release" masking tape to prevent mouth leaks. Lowe's has it in the "Paint" dept. Cost works out to about $0.03 per night. Cheap enough.

THanks Gerald!

I'm wondering........if I got a smaller pair of tights and cut the leg off, could I then cut a cross section out and open it up and use it around my entire head.....under chin and over my head? It would be nice not to have to sew anything. I suppose I could also just use part of the leg and pull it up over my head and tie a big bow!
If I did it your way, I could probably just pin it together to decide how big to make the "chinstrap", and then sew it. Using some regular fabric where I'd be sewing it is a good suggestion too. Thanks!

The "beauty" of what all of us do is.....there are no rules!

If you open a leg up....and wear just that.......there's no reason not to try.

If you find that you need more strength, you might try doubling a leg back into itself......sort of like the way we adjusted the length of our jeans back in the 50's.

Whatever works...........
