The one I go to is based out of Jefferson City. Thought you might be closer to me.
Good luck in finding a good doc cause there tends to be all kinds. I took my daughter (she was 15 at the time) to a local pysch here in town. We took her for cutting, anoxeria, and depression. All he did was talk to her for about 5 minutes (of course insurance paid for a 60 min session but when I complained he said he was "following up on her paperwork".) He was a real drug pusher!! I forget the dosage he had her on (Paxil) but she ended up sick and in the er and they were enraged that her dosage was so high as she was a little scrawny thing at the time. The ER said they were going to report him -- they took all the info etc. I never followed up to see if they actually did.
Mine actually gives me plenty of time during my visit, explains the medication and the side effects, does NOT push scripts unless they are necessary and explains why one might be better than the other. In fact at my last visit he said I didn't need to come back and see him and I told him he was my security blanket as my job is very stressful and at this time I am only seeing every 6 months.

If you ever need to divide the contents of a capsule, you can purchase empty capsules. I bought some about a year ago over the Internet and then later found out they have them at the local vitamin shop.

I am convinced, after a terrible experience with withdrawl, that Effexor is the devil's work! It worked a little too well (I didn't feel anything ever), but trying to go off of it was horrific. Wish I'd known that before my doc put me on it, but I think she was clueless too.
Love the Wellbutrin I've been on for the past several years, but I know that what works for one will not work for another.
Good luck,
Annie

Valium is NOT so innocent!!! I was on 5 mg 30 years ago, scripted for what later was Dx'd at Mayo Clinic as Crohn's disease. I got quite "high" on it so I was cut down to 2.5 mg 2 x daily, then 3 x daily WITH FOOD. I handled it better w/food.
However, after about 2 months of this we had some neighbors over playing cards when I started laughing hysterically at ANYTHING, then I started crying hysterically for no reason, and THEN I got NASTY and threw my poor neighbors out of the house!!
Many years later, not knowing that Versed was a close relative of Valium and having long ago forgotten about the Valium I was given Versed for my first colonoscopy and flipped out, got agitated, then hostile, took 3 nurses to hold me down so the gastro could withdraw the scope. Colonoscopy incomplete.
