Babs, I need the book for Dummies!!! Quick!
With everyones help , last night after fighting with my computer and Encore and reader, I finally figured out how to get a Daily report! I was so excited about looking at it this morning and really getting into it and tracking therapy
Only one thing wrong...I FORGOT TO PUT THE CARD BACK IN THE MACHINE !!! I think I need Ginko Biloba! I was so mad at myself!
Now, providing I can remember to put card back in machine, all I have to do is figure out how to read the graphs!

Hi Joyce,
Congratuatlions! And now you can have *hours* of fun interpreting all that stuff (and getting frustrated when the machine "burps" now and again and forgets to write the data on the card .... just on a night when you really want to see it!

I know what you mean by "not writing data to card". I have been writing down info from the LCD since beginning. About two weeks ago, I thought I screwed up, there was a two day difference in the sessions... So, I just started where it was leaving them out. As it turns out, I realized after getting Encore, the machine did not record those two days, it wasnt me. I was so mad at myself this morning. As soon as I started to the computer room, I realized what I did.mindy wrote:Hi Joyce,

But I was so tired and frustrated trying to figure it out last night, I forgot.
The installation was a breeze with no problems until the reader quit working. Actually, the reader worked fine, but Windows would not recognize it , after I had already used it....not sure what the problem was. It may happen again, who knows...
So.........I un-installed it 3 times and finally got it to working fine. Then... duh.. on me....

Yes, I had some frustrations in starting, too! If you have Vista, the card reader driver doesn't always start up when the computer starts up so you have to know how to go in and tell it to do it's darn thing when the computer starts.
I'm fairly obsessive about my data but have had to learn to relax about it at least somewhat. So now if I miss data, I sigh, say a swear word or two and then forget about it.

Fortunately, I don't have Vista. I bought a new comp about two months ago with it,, Hated it!! Took it back and had a friend who works in comp shop build me a new one with XP. Definitely much better than Vista. I get frustrated easily when I am tired, that was my problem yesterday tryin to figure the information out. I also downloaded Skinners Analyzer. Love it...easier for me to understand at this point.

I definitely prefer Skinner's Analyzer .... but do look at Encore reports to see how a specific night proceeded in more detail. For example, if I'm on APAP and using a range, I can look to see if I'm maxing out or bottoming out all or most of the time. I also look at leak patterns -- they do seem to follow sleep stages (not surprising).

This is kinjda funny. I remember the same things being said about XP when it was new. People bailing out and wanting to go back to 98 second edition. My neighbor still swears that second edition was the last stable platform.jsmythe wrote:Fortunately, I don't have Vista. I bought a new comp about two months ago with it,, Hated it!! Me, I want to go back to MS-DOS.
I agree, I hated XP when it first started. I stayed with my '98 until they came out with the Service Pack 2 for XP. After that it started getting better. I will probably go to Vista when they get the bugs out and come out with a Service Pack or something for it. For now, just gonna stick with my "most of the time reliable" )Anonymous wrote:This is kinjda funny. I remember the same things being said about XP when it was new. Fortunately, I've not forgotten to put the card back in the machine yet. I've been taking it out of the card reader immediately after download and putting it back in the machine, so that has become my routine. The past two nights I have experienced the machine burp with not writing data to the card.
Glad you have your reader and have info now. You'll have the hang of it all in no time. I love EncorePro Analyzer too. I usually look at it after I've looked at the detailed results in Encore Pro.

Yea, but Vista is really evil. At least XP would run most of the same programs that would run on 98. I checked and over half of my software wont run on Vista. The cost of replacing the software is about double the total cost of the computer. and then ther are those that have not been written for Vista yet if they ever will. My computer is on it's last leg and Vista may put me out of the computer market. I thought I had found a solution to my problem the other day. Found a full copy of XP for sale, thought I would buy a new computer and have Vista wiped and XP installed. The salesman told me that XP would not reconise the new cards and drives. Maybe I can find someone that can build me one that will still run XP, Had not thought of that.

Dell still sells them with XP. At least they did earlier in the fall when we bought a new laptop.

These were all the reasons I took mine back to store. Very little of the software I had would run on it. And had to download almost all the drivers for it to run them, even Lexmark didn't have a driver for me to download to use my fax and printer. I was not going to get rid of my $300 All-In-One for a comp that I hated. Most of the computer techs who build them can build it with XP. The girl that did mine, will not build with Vista. And charges $100 just to "look" at a Vista that is brought in for repair. Repair bill is even higher.

Meanwhile back at the dance
When I pull my smart card out of my machine, I unplug my machine first. I fully realize I don't have to do it, but I figure it's a way to remind myself that the card is out of the machine.
I actually tried turning on my machine one night a couple weeks back, and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't come on for a moment. Then I realized why (DOH!). System worked...
