Which is the better option? Are there any factors I should take into consideration?
Thanks

'Puter techies can advise better than I can BUT I "think" it is a matter of how many and/or what kind of ports your 'puter has rather than anything to do w/the Vantage itself.

Re: Downloading info Resmed Vantage - card reader or USB?
Both will work equally welll in terms of the end rsult of getting data into ResScan on your PC.Moby wrote:Which is the better option? Are there any factors I should take into consideration?
Considerations are:
- The card option allows your PC to be in a different place (say in a study etc) from the CPAP machine, while the USB cable option means that they both must be close to each other
The Card option requires a card reader to be purchased for the PC while the USB option requires a USB attachment for the S8 to be purchased. I'm not sure what the costs of each are, but there may be differences.
The Card will eventually wear out (over a few years) and need to be replaced (about $20 or so) and its small enough that you could just misplace it, but the USB cable should not need replacement in normal use.
The Card option requires device drivers to be installed on your PC, which is generally not a problem but in some cases has been (the card reader works fine for me on most of my computers but just wont read on one-only XP Pro laptop system). The USB option uses standard Winodws drivers and should work on all systems (at least no one here has reported any problem with this).
I hope that helps.
Cheers,
Bill

No, it means you need to find start (or find) a message thread about Respironics flow generators to ask your question.... the Respironics data transfer approach is significantly different to Resmed's.NickD25 wrote:So this means I won't have to spend money on the overpriced Infineer reader? A 58 in 1 reader will work as long as it's Smart Media compatible?
