Sleep Position - Again. And A New Sleep Doc. Any RTs?

Post by Slinky » Sat Dec 15, 2007 7:47 pm

During my January 06 sleep evaluation, altho I slept on both sides and on my back, all of my SDB events occurred whilst supine (sleeping on my back). 5 hours, 49 minutes of actual sleep time.

The last month or so I've noticed that it is more difficult to breathe when on my right or left sides. ESPECIALLy my right side. Tonight for instance, I laid down on my right side for a few minutes and absolutely couldn't breathe for beans. I sat up breathing like I had run around the block.

Has anyone experienced something like this? There have been times when I laid on one side or the other that it felt like my heart was "hanging" and the muscles it was hanging from were burning like they were tearing. It didn't scare me, just HURT! I've had EKGs, a CTA scan, multiple stress tests. Nothing wrong w/my heart except some mild pulmonary hypertension. No high blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. I do have COPD.

There's been a big change at my sleep clinic!!! They had called earlier this month and cancelled my appointment supposedly due to the doctors having problems arranging their schedules. I've been rescheduled and it turns out my sleep pulmo and another sleep pulmo have left the sleep clinic. My appointment is w/a new sleep pulmo/critical care/geriontologist. (Geriontologist??? Sheesh!!!! Should I be insulted?? ).

Anyway, its something I'm going to have to remember to bring up to him. My new appointment is this coming Friday.
