The problem is called aerophagia or swallowing air. From what I have read here it is possible that you have a problem with the valve at the top of your stomach which prevents acid from coming up and air from going down. A more elaborate machine migh have some adjustments which could help, but I encourage you to search on the subject (I hope I spelled it correctly) and find alternate treatments.

Good Luck,
TerryB

While air is indeed a gas, the smelly type you are describing that we ara all familiar with is different from the aerophagia caused by PAP.

Metabolic gas results from the digestion by microbes of complex carbohydrates.
CPAP gas is produced by the physical swallowing of air.
It should not smell unless it adds to the other.

This is why the gas aids such as mylanta and gas x are useless in pap caused problems.

If it smells, you need to chceck your diet, if not, then your PAP.
