Need advice again, this time on mask refit

Post by KBee » Sun Dec 09, 2007 7:29 pm

So, I'll be getting a mask refit later this week (and pressure raised). I'm wondering if a mask refit really does any good? I have to have my mask so tight on the right side ,it is painful. If I don't have it super tight, I get mask leaks whenever my head turns right in my sleep which not only loses air, but wakes me up too. The bridge of my nose rivals Rudolf"s. Any advice about what to say beyond the above at the refit????

Have you looked at some of the past posts on Quattro fixes? Mack's ear plugs (silicone putty type) can be really helpful with sore nose ....

My Quattro hurts my nose, too. I went back to my Ultra Mirage FF--I've decided it's the best fit for me, doesn't hurt my nose, and it seals best without being overly tight. If you haven't already tried the UM FF, I'd suggest giving it a try.

Good luck!

Here's a previous thread about quattro sore nose bridge:

I have had a leakage problem with almost all FF masks that I have tried. So I took everyones advice on Mack's silicon ear plugs. On my UMFF, I put a VERY thin strip, about 1/4 in.wide all around the cushion where it touches my face. Worked wonders!!! No more leaks. And I don't take it off each morning when I clean the mask. But replace it every four or five days.

I've been working on Quattro FF leaks and previously put strips of silicone putty spaced around. It worked fairly well but I found I needed to take them off to wash and cushion really should be washed daily.

So last night I tried something a little different ... I put a strip of silicone putty *only* around the top part of the cusion. I've previously noticed that the cause of the leak is not always where the symptoms appear. That strip on the top worked wonders and I find it much easier than dealing with more of it.

hhmmm, I never thought of just putting it on top only to start out with, good idea. I wash my mask every morning, I just dont remove the putty. I have a replacement cushion coming somtime (from Apria). Ordered it two weeks ago and they still have not called me . No surprise.
