Fixed BiPAP Pressure Settings

Post by EdAPAP » Fri Dec 07, 2007 11:30 am

After five weeks on APAP at 10-18 cm, my MD has decided to change me to a BiPAP machine set at fixed pressure setting (ie, no auto function).

He feels the APAP has been keeping me at lower pressures for too many mintues per night for effective therapy. The APAP in auto mode was also causing hyperventilation problems.

My new Rx for the BiPAP will be inspiratory pressure of 18 cm and expiratory pressure of 10 cm (to get me to exhale more easily and completely).

Does anyone have a recent experience transitioning to BiPAP? Please give me some hints and advice on what to expect.

ED

Current BiPAP Pressure Settings: IPAP = 18, EPAP = 15

If you can get one... try to get an Auto Bipap with BiFlex... best of all worlds all around. Lots of settings to set. I found that I couldn't use CFLEX, but I can use BiFlex... CFLEX had me hyperventilating, but BiFlex doesn't.
