Got Problems....keep trying

Post by Kharris » Tue Dec 04, 2007 8:17 am

So Sunday afternoon, I found myself with several hours that weren't
filled with pre-holiday busy-ness. So I decided to do what all real men
do when nobody is around, NAP.
I slept for about 30 minutes, no hose. I guess I stopped breathing,
I sat straight up in bed, with my pulse pounding and a very strange
choking sensation.
I have only been on c-pap for 2 months, I have fought the same problems
as everyone else. Leaks, rainout, general weirdness of having a hunk of
plastic strapped to my face.
Don't give up.
That one episode reminded me of what it was like night after night.
And how after only 2 months how much better things have gotten.
It's still a struggle sometimes and will never be perfect. But even the
worst night-- last night was really rough-- it's still better than before
cpap.

pressure....sweet 16

I will both lie down in peace and sleep. For you
O Lord, make me dwell in safety.

The only way I ever nap these days (when I rarely feel like it) is sitting up in a comfortable chair. The naps only last 20 minutes or so. I used to be able to "nap" for hours.

There is a reason for papping while napping.........

We've all fallen asleep without our "stuff" but to take a nap without hosing up is just plain nuts.

FN...of course you could nap for hours, you have sleep apnea! I used to take 3 naps in the morning before going to work at noon, only to still fall asleep at my computer. Now when I take that rare nap I hose up and get 30 minutes or so of great benifical sleep.

Real men nap....but smart men do it right

A lot of people report headaches if they even take a nap without the PAP. I can count the times I have napped since being on the PAP on half of one hand (so that's not many). If I were to be sleeping for a long time I wouldn't even think about doing it without being hosed up.

Just cuz there is not diagnosis for Obstructive Nap Apnea doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

Silly humans!!

Yeah, you may not get a full cycle of sleep like during the night, but you still get to certain stages depending on the length of nap. My dads sleep study showed SEVERE apneas during stage II. If he were to nap, he would still have them, so I told him to make sure and wear his mask because of the "proof" that he stops breathing so quickly after falling asleep.
