Remstar "Service Required" HELP!

Post by Guest » Sat Dec 01, 2007 4:13 pm

Hey,

First post to forums, as I now have a big problem. I have a REMstar Plus, and traveled to my parents yesterday, and accidentally packed the machine with the water chamber still half full. Worked fine last night, worked fine during a nap today, but then it went crazy, beeping, and finally saying "Service Required". Now it won't stay on, and if I do get it to come on and get activated, it doesn't seem to blow at full strength all the time - it fluctuates. I've manually set it from 11 to 14 strength in the past.

I'm a little panicked here, is this a "must call" situation to get this serviced right away? Anyone have any experience with this?

It has to be sent to where it was purchased from, then they send it to Remstar. Maybe you can get a loaner...

If the unit is over two years old, you might buy a new one online that collects useful data. Jim

Ooops. You accidentally tried to drown the poor thing and then wonder about the "Service Required" message?

Somewhere at one time in the not too far past someone posted how to best go about drying out a CPAP when that happens. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to search for that post. Betchya RestedGal could come up w/it in a flash tho!

Crisis averted. Answer - hair dryer set to no heat, blown directly into airhole of the Remstar itself, taken apart from the humidifier, for five minutes or so.

Can't always guarantee that will work for everyone, but it worked for me. Machine is fully functional again
