Does Raising Head of Bed Lower AHI'S

Post by slept » Wed Nov 28, 2007 12:27 pm

What method did you use to raise the head of the bed 3.5 (or 4) inches?
This is something I have been considering trying, and wonder how best to do it.

Yes, let me explain. What I do when I sleep on my side is to pull my legs up more into the fetal position.

Gasp-About being hard on the heart to pump blood to brain against gravity, wouldn't we being doing that all the time while not sleeping by standing or sitting up. Thank you for your input.
We both challenge and strengthen the heart with our daily activities and it happens to be against gravity for the most part. Which may be one of the reasons we lie down to sleep. There are many reasons we need approximately 8 hours to recuperate and as a species we mostly lie down to do it. Hopefully there is a good reason that we both sleep and lie down : )

Slept-To raise my head of the bed 4 inches, I took casters off bottom and put a furniture coaster underneath so carpet not ruined. At top I put bricks under each caster (with a coaster underneath the caster with a groove in it, to hold it onto the brick). All bought at Home Depot.

I got better sleep from elevating the head of the bed....

I got one of these adjustable beds and a memory foam mattress.

The worst part has been getting use to sleeping on my back.... you can also side sleep... but it really limits the angle and if the foot the bed is elevated.... your legs hurt the next morning.

I sleep on a MedSlant wedge and I recently started to side sleep all night and got that leg pain. Posters here told me to sleep with a pillow between my legs. I tried it and the pain went away.
