Nasal Aire II

Post by sleepycarol » Fri Nov 23, 2007 11:02 am

Can anyone tell me if the main tubing is the same size for all of the Nasal Aire II masks? I just picked up a new Nasal Aire II mask from cpapauction really cheap -- I know it will be too big for me but have been wanting to try this mask out for sometime. I thought maybe I could then just order new nasal prongs? How do I go about trying to figure which size would be the best short of ordering the star guide?

Thanks for your help!!

Yes the hoses are all the same size, you have to stretch them a bit on the smalles sizes but they fit. What size prongs do you need, I have several. Might be able to help with another size cannulla. The best way to start out getting in the ballpark on sizes is to try to fit with the sizing star. I have a couple of those if your mask does not come with one. Some folks go up mostly from what the star says if they get leaks.

Just a note of caution - alot of auctions claim they are selling a Nasal Aire II, but REALLY sell you the PETITE Nasal Aire II, which is this miniature version where the tubes are too short to go over your head, and the sides of the tubes DO NOT interchange with the regular NAII cannulas.

When you get it, post a pic of it, if you can, so we can help you determine if it's the Petite or not.

If it comes with multiple size cannulas (prongs), it's 99% guaranteed to be the regular NAII, but I don't trust online vendors after I found several on Ebay selling Petite's and claiming they were the standard version.

Do try to get the largest size cannula you can in your nose - seals better. And post your decision on the size, in case Jerry or I or someone else can help you out with our extra prongs.

Cheers,
Babette (on the road at the Hampton Inn)

I just checked it and it says it is the nasal aire I. My mistake. It is extra large. What is the main difference between the I and the II? Here is the listing if you want to take a look at it if that helps.

http://www.cpapauction.com/auction-list ... rge.html

I have been wanting to try a Nasal Aire out for sometime -- mainly due to Babs talking so highly of it . This extra large only went for $5.50 and is suppose to be new so I figured what the heck it would possibly let me try it out at a reasonable cost. I am going to do a search on the differences on cpap.com.

I will keep you posted on the size as I REALLY want to try a nasal aire out.

I purchased a Ventlab mask that looks very similar -- but the prongs are so large they feel like they are going straight into my sinuses. . I don't know if it would affect the seal if I cut them down some on it or if I would be better off trying to trade or sell it.

On cpap.com it doesn't list that you can purchase the different size prongs for this .

Way to go Babs. Hope your VACATION is going well. Thanks for the infotmation on the Petite. I was not aware of that. Had not had a Petite before. Do check with Babette and me on the cannulla. They are $31 through our host and we have gotten the kits with multiple sizes so we have some we can't wear and would be glad to share.

I love the NAII and it has really helped my numbers. I did get a sore nare for a while but I stuck it out and now I don't even notice it. I can even sleep on my tummy with it. I hope you have as good luck with it as I have.

Jerry

Carol

Babette will correct me if I am wrong but I think the only difference in the NAI and the II was the size of the cannulla. I know they changed slightly and if I remember they added a size or two to get the fit closer.

Hi SleepyCarol

I have small sizes (small and extra small) I would be willing to trade for larger sizes (medium and medium plus)

Both fit the connector for the larger sizes but the extra small gets streeched

The link to the prong on cpap.com
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/innome ... ement.html

It does say the prongs will fit the older NA's

Thanks 6pt. I really appreciate your help.

I might take you up on your offer on one of the cannulas.

Would you want to sell one of your sizing stars Jerry? I am interested if you do.

Hi SleepyCarol

If you find out what size you need I may be able to help you. I have unused small and extra small cannulas even if you have nothing to trade them for.

If larger perhaps someone else can help

I have a sizing star, though I don't recommend them. I think the very best way is to just try on every cannula, honestly. The cannulas are squishy, and the sizing star is not.

Rosemary wants an XL, which I promised to send her. She may be interested in another one, if it doesn't work for you. I'm sure between Jerry and I we can get you hooked up with an appropriate size cannula. I might just ship you several sizes, and have you pick the one you like.

Have to wait until I get back on Monday, though.

Cheers,
Babette - who is now surfing the high speed internet connection from her Mom's laptop
