Data card question

Post by KBee » Wed Nov 21, 2007 8:07 pm

I got to the doctor in a couple weeks, it will be the first time since I got my CPAP (10-23). Will the data card info let him know if the pressure is set high enough? I'm wondering because I sleep on the CPAP over 8 hours every night, yet I'm still so tired during the day, I end up napping 2-4 hours. Something must be wrong. What other info will the data card give? Thanks for any help.

You may want to ask him what the average leak is for your data and if it is appropriate for your FF mask (you may also want to take the user manual for the mask with you to the visit so he can check the normal leak rate for it).

Best of luck.

Assuming you have a REMstar Pro 2, it can provide AHI, leak, and snoring data data. Did your doctor ask you to bring the card in? Only some doctors will look at that data.

I'm not sure if it's a Remstar Pro 2, it just says Remstar Pro M series so maybe not.

It's a different machine, however it works the same way as the Pro2... you should correct it (and your humidifier) in your profile.

If you machine collects useful data, it always better to read your own, that way you can get it anytime and you have a good way to save it. According to your profile yours does. Jim

The only info I can see on the screen is average hours for last 7 days and last mo, number of sessions and compliance number. I don't have access to the other info, but I'll be bringing the data card to the doc so I guess he can see it then

That model records several data elements. Quite a bit of useful efficacy data is available to the doctor and to you. All it takes is a proper card reader and software.

Typically, the doctors and DMEs only look at the number of hours slept (compliance)......mainly because they don't even know that the other data is being collected.....if they even HAVE the software and card reader. Also, if they're using a version of Encore Pro prior to 1.8 the default action is to erase the card after they download it.
Also, lots of doctors (maybe most) don't even believe the data to be accurate, so for that reason they won't even look at it.

The data collected is hours slept, leaks, snores, apneas and hypopneas.

You should be able to see some of this data from your LCD screen each day, but the software will give you more detail.
