Strap Marks-Pressure Marks

Post by BrnEyez » Wed Nov 21, 2007 11:29 am

So, there I was at the 7:00 am Production Meeting...feeling the stares of a thousand eyes and the unspoken words..."what's wrong with her face?". Ahhh, the continuing joys and pleasures of CPAP. Four pounds of make-up and concealer can only do so much. So, exactly how early do you have to get up before a "face" presentation in order for the strap and pressure marks go away? Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

You must try Pad-A-Cheeks. They work wonders for those strap marks. The Pad-A-Cheeks fit on the headgear straps and are made of cozy fleece. The fleece gives enough cushion effect to stop the marks!!

Don't make the straps too tight......but, yeah......Pad-A-Cheeks or you can probably make your own strap covers with some fleece material. My wife made some for me in about 5 minutes with some left-over stuff she had.

I had the same problem until I started using the pad-a-cheek strap covers. Went to work, the words were "spoken" rather than "unspoken"--what happened to your face?

So, I suggest trying the pad-a-cheeks! They're great (and make the straps more comfortable, too!).

I can't remember who turned me onto this (it was somebody on this forum), but I find it really helps to drink a couple of big glasses of water as soon as you get up. Hydrates the skin and helps it 'plump' out faster. But even with that, I need at least half an hour before that tell-tale triangle around my nose is completely gone. I feel your pain!

I'll have to try the pad-a-cheaks covers. I used a mirage swift II pillow system and woke up with strap marks from my hairline to the end of my nose. I tried to massage them out in the shower, but they were still there as I left the house. Can only wonder what people think they are from.

Maybe a kinky but satisfactory exerience in bed the night before?

... the pad-a-cheeks should do you just fine. Uhh ... just don't tell them you use pad-a-cheeks in bed cuz they may wonder about that too

I get up at least 2 hours before I have to be at work. I don't have problems with the marks. But the marks do last a good 30-45 minutes.

I need to get pad-a-cheeks too.

Even with my pad-a-cheeks, I still get some mild strap lines!

If the regular pad-a-cheeks still leave you with marks, you can ask Karen to make you a set of double thick pad-a-cheeks. Just let her know what the problem is and she will do all she can to help!

I readjusted my headgear last night on my Mirage Swift II nasal pillows. My cheek marks are less pronounced today. I guess I did have it WAY over tightened. Now it is just tight enough to rest the "snorkel" under my nose with no noticable leaks. Since I sleep pretty still, I didn't notice one time during the night when it came off. My pressure also fell from 11 to 8.5 during the night (as shown on avg screen of M-series for two nights). This is only my second night to use the machine, though.

Thanks for the input on this issue.

Thank You,

First I need to specify that I MADE A MISTAKE, "SORRY KAREN" IT WASN'T YOUR CHEEK PADS I WAS USING!, I was not using "KAREN'S PAD-A-CHEEKS! I had ordered the ones I had been using from get-go from cpap.com and the other's from ebay, "SORRY KAREN". I just recieved my new PAD-A-CHEEKS from KAREN and I have to say that I am absoutley THRILLED at the RESULTS & ABSOUTLEY NO LINES" on my face WHATSOEVER! "THANK YOU KAREN" ! The real pad-a-cheeks are so wonderful, soft, & thick that there is no way you could end up with strap lines, YEA! "GREAT JOB KAREN". I recieved them yesterday and was on my 16th. day of post-surgery and wasn't supposed to use my mask for another 3 weeks but when I saw those new pad-a-cheeks in my mailbox, it made me crave the use of my cpap even more, I hooked my machine up and used it for 4 hours lastnight and had 32 second apnea's they seem to be way worse and longer than they we're before the surgery , The inside of my nose started hurting pretty bad so, I will slowly use my mask each night as the apnea's are getting worse, I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE! I thought the septoplasty surgery was going to help the apnea's some, not make them longer in duration!! Anyway, I HIGHLY RECCOMEND "KAREN'S PAD-A-CHEEKS to EVERYONE on this FORUM, I WILL NEVER ORDER THEM anywhere else after using Karen's, she's stuck with me for a lifetime

cheek marks

Post by lifeartist59 » Sat Dec 08, 2007 12:24 am

I recently got a new mask, an opus, and it made some deep marks. I looked at the padacheek online, but did not want to wait to have it delivered so I made my own with some fleece I had at home. I just sewed a tube about 5 inches long for each side. They work great and are soft and warm. My marks the first morning took about four hours to go away. I did NOT want to have those on my face daily!

I bought my husband this product from Strapguardman at the CPAP Auction. They are a dream and he loves the way they feel. They come in several colors, too.

9 bucks.

I'd love to try the Pad A Cheeks, too.
