Comments on Hospital Stay and Taping

Post by Snoozie » Sun Nov 18, 2007 1:06 pm

Hi all,

I haven't been on here for quite a while, but there is always some type of question and this is the best place for advice. I had a short hospital stay in July and yes, they said do bring in your CPap. Well, I did and no problems, except I use the Breeze, along with the strips and tape. Good combination for me and works well. ---Except in the hospital. I'm sure they would have thought I was crazy and definitely would not have allowed mouth taping anyway, so I suffered for the 3 nights I was in there. I tried sleeping and physically putting my hand on my mouth, but I am sure I was heavily mouth breathing because of constantly waking up with no saliva in my mouth .

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do if this situation should ever arise again? Maybe I should get a full face mask for those situations? If so, any suggestions on one that would work well in a pinch?
Thanks!

It's your health, not theirs. I'd do what ever I needed to do to get a good nights sleep.

Poligrip strips work well for me, and no one could give you a hard time about using them. They wouldn't even show up if you were being looked at.

It might be a good idea to have a full face mask as a spare for times when you have a cold, sinus congestion of just feel uncomfortable taping.

Agreed. I taped for a long time. When the Hybrid FF mask was introduced I tried one as a backup. Soon I decided it was better for me than taping and that's all I use now.

Thanks, and I am going to check out the Hybrid since I am about due for a new mask anyway.

Hospitals are unsafe places to be in. They are always full of sick people, some even die. Try to avoide them as i do. (Try!)

It pays to have a FF Mask as a backup, and a standard to see if you are mouthbreathing. Finding one that suits you is the challange. Jim
