well here I go griping again!!! as some of you know Dr. recently set me up with a cpap, would not let me keep the apap I was starting to love. So now five days later and back to being miserable!!! headaches brain fog losing my focus again etc. Sooo I call Dr.'s office up explain that I'm not getting along with this machine at all, he returned me to work as of monday and now feeling horrible again and would like him to consider changing me back to the apap. His response is the apap is not to be used as a treatment device and only to be used to determine the necesarry pressure an individual needs so no he will not do this. So I ask him doc I was getting benefit from the apap and feeling better now I'm feeling like I'm shutting down again getting the headaches and fog and chest pains (they tell me are from stress of ot sleeping and lack of oxygen) reply you just need to adjust to it and keep trying and try the ramp feature too.... So I explained that I tried ramping myself silly and liked the c-flex as it allowed me to breathe easier and was way more comfy for me. response come see me thursday and I will turn your pressure down for you to make it easier to exhale. Now is it me or is this just all wrong!! My thought was he's telling me the apap was used to determine my pressure but yet he is willing to turn the pressure down? i told him if its a cost issue I will bring you cash but I need to be able to sleep with this thing and I was with the apap and since you`ve changed things I can't get any sleep with it on. reply I assure you its not about the cost the apap is to set a patients pressures only.. sooooo back to aggravation and misery and now a little online shopping I guess its time for me to fix myself as they don't understand a patients comfort is important. grrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!
AND I USED TO THINK SLEEP WAS OVER RATED!!!!

What is your health worth?

Order the machine of your dreams at https://www.cpap.com by just asking
your doctor for a copy of your prescription. You need a copy since you
are going on a big cruise soon, and after that a big trip to Europe, and
you may need to show someone your prescription is the machine
breaks, or at Airport security.

Make sure it's an AutoPAP Rx and not a standard one. There's a difference!

Why do people keep saying this?

There is *NO* difference, when ordering from a reputable place like cpap.com. There is only a difference when dealing with a DME, who will charge the same price to you and your insurance for any machine, and so would much rather give you a piece of crap machine they can get cheaply than a Remstar Auto that costs them twice as much (nevermind that THEY are pocketing a markup of over 100% even on the expensive machine).

So if you're dealing with a DME, you have to get the doctor to write a scrip for Auto, or you won't get one. If you're buying it yourself, all you need is a scrip for CPAP. An Auto is simply short for "Auto Titrating CPAP". It's a CPAP machine.

Liam, wondering how many more times he's going to explain this this week.

You're right, Blazes. The "doctor" is full of it, imho...and full of himself.

Meister and Liam are telling you right. I wouldn't be surprised though, if said "doctor" refuses to give you a copy of your Rx. Rather than have your blood pressure go sky high dealing with him, do you know any good old family doc who is sensible enough to just give you a prescription with one word written on it...that magic word being "cpap"?

With that one word and a call to cpap.com, you can have, as Meister aptly put it, the machine of your dreams: Respironics REMstar Auto with C-Flex and heated humidifier. That's what I'd order, anyway.

I'm not a doctor or a "doctor". But I'd hate to be in the not so tender care of a "doctor" who:

1. took your comfortable machine away and...
2. gave you an uncomfortable machine and...
3. is now talking about how he'll just lower the pressure of the uncomfortable machine...
4. to make it comfortable,
5. because he says the comfortable machine is used just to pick a pressure...
6. to set for an uncomfortable machine.

Whew. I'd be aggravated, too!!

thanks all again now I understand why he would rather not give it to me. Liam my friend I think you are dead on!!! I guess I will insist either the apap or an Rx so I can pick a machine myself. I thought there was a difference in the Rx but now it makes sense!! I know he has a stack of probably 30 new in the box remstar apaps hanging out in the office but is dead set against me having one? But billing the insurance for the expensive machine and handing out the cheapest you can get your hands on makes sense and the only logical reason I've heard so far!!! thanks again I'll let you know what happens tomorrow.
