Hi all,
I've been hearing that some people with APAPs can be awakened when the pressure goes up. But how do you know?? I've been waking up 2-4 times a night, but have been thinking it was just me...maybe hearing something, or having pain, etc. How do people really know its from the APAP making a pressure change?? And it seems like it would be very subtle and might not even wake you to consciousness.
I'm trying to decide if I might do better with CPAP, since I tend to wake up with everything and anything. But I have no clue if my awakenings are from the APAP or not.
Waking up with APAP pressure changes?

I also have an APAP. The largets majority of the time I have not idea that my machine has increased the pressure. I have woken up on occasion to find it a bit uncomfortable. This seems to happen when my pressure has spiked to around 11 or so. Usually though, I don't think it was the change that woke me up. Usually it's something else entirely. What is your pressure range? If you're running an open range that could be the culprit. I'd say to try a week or so on cpap mode and see if it makes a difference for you.

No problem! My RT with the pulminologist prescribed mine. If you're pulminologist hasn't zeroed in on one number, you might want to ask. Sounds you're at about a 7, as I am. That hits your range rigth in the middle.

"Arousal" and "waking up" are not the same thing. Your sleep can be disturbed by pressure changes without your necessarily being awake and conscious.
With the range narrowed, you suddenly find you sleep more restful.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.
