Found detailed reports for Respironics BIPAP software!

Post by ballast949 » Tue Apr 26, 2005 10:48 am

I ordered the Encore Card reader and software hoping there was more data than compliance data available. In running the software, all I could find was very basic compliance data. Pressure for the day plus start time, stop time and interruptions.

Hoping that I will be able to convince my GP to prescribe the Respironics APAP machine (that's why I had ordered the reader & software) I decided to browse the sample reports that came on the software install disk. I decided to look at the BIPAP reports first. To my surprise, there were reports showing Apneas, Hypops, Snores... all the data reported by the APAP machine was also available from the BIPAP machine as well!

At first, I thought they had screwed up and gotten APAP samples mixed in with the BIPAP samples. I ran the software again and saw NOPLACE that I could access those reports! Then I went back and read the instructions for accessing the detailed reports - not exactly obvious, but here it is AND IT WORKS! I now get full detail data for each night. One thing examination of the data has already shown me is that my high snore values coincide with the low starting pressures during ramp up.

Here are the instructions for accessing your detailed data.

"1. Open a patient’s record (from the home screen, right-click on a patient’s name and select Open Patient Homepage).

2. From the Interaction List, right-click on a Compliance Download and select View Interaction Report.

3. The Report Options screen will appear. Select Summary or Full Details. Note: The Summary view will include the Hours of Usage and FOSQ Score graphs only. The Full Details view will include all of the graphs listed under the sample report. If the download includes more than one day of therapy, you can also select a specific date range for the report. Click OK."

Good report, ballast. The three steps you mentioned are the same three steps that Respironics autopap users go through, too.

The "full report" is where the juicy info is, as opposed to "summary" - with machines that are capable of recording detailed info in the first place.

Surprised

Hi Rested Gal - I was surprized that there is no selection on the left with reports that says "detailed reports". I write user software for a living and I would never bury such important info so deep in the program.

heheh, well, since the Encore software is targeted for the docs and DMEs...and since both those groups are notoriously NOT interested in software data treatment details at all....

All the DME is usually interested in (and only insofar as it applies to continuing rental payments from insurance companies or Medicare) is - compliance. Is the patient lying about using the machine every night? Is the patient using it enough hours for insurance to keep paying?

All the doctor is usually interested in is what single pressure seemed to work? And the doctor isn't even interested in seeing that for himself - he'd probably rather let the DME tell him what pressure the download found.

I doubt if many doctors or DMEs are the least bit interested in looking at the details that we, the patients, are most interested in seeing on the data. That's probably why the "Summary" is ticked as the default, rather than "Detailed Report" anyway.

I'm surprised there aren't just two big red buttons titled on the left!

One titled "Compliance".

And the other titled "Use this Pressure."

rotfl!!
