Is an APAP the best choice if you have more hypopneas than centrals or obstructive apneas ?
I'm ready to purchase a machine now after using a Remstar Plus w C-Flex. Pressure is only 6....AHI only 7.....but led to a serious problem.
I've read that at low pressures an auto is not necessary -- and I don't understand if hypopneas are addressed in the algorithm.
I'm most interested in the ability to monitor treatment with the APAP, to make sure I'm getting my best shot at getting better.
I'm looking at the Remstar Auto w C-Flex and humidifier -- Is there a software package I need to get to "read" my nightly numbers? And do you get the same tracking data when it's used as a straight cpap in case the auto can't sense hypopneas ?
Thanks in advance for all help.
Hypopneas and APAP - CPAP
The answer is it depends. Derek found that his pressure doesn't vary much and could be well treated with straight CPAP. (he has primarily Hypopneas)
If you decide that you don't want to go with an Auto, but you want to be able to monitor your therapy, you can get the Remstar Pro2. It will show AHI just like the Remstar Auto.
And yes you would need software. It is called Encore Pro. Click on the older content link at the top near cpap interviews and reviews.
