Thanks for the encouragement on my son-in-law. I was thinking that if I could show him something a little more concrete than my daughter's observations it might help.
For the last several years I just thought my husband was being a jerk for waking me up some nights so I would start breathing. He had been telling me I snored up a storm (I thought I would know if I snored and I KNEW I wasn't ) and he would shake me and call out my name when I stopped breathing and I thought he was being a total jerk about it. I figured I would KNOW if I was doing that. Of course like many I often had dreams I was drowning and just figured it was due to the fact that I can not swim.
It was only when my 5 year old granddaughter started doing the same thing when she spent the night when my husband was away due to his job. I finally started waking up to the fact that there had to be a problem if I WAS waking her up and in return she was waking me up to tell me to breathe.
I am still going to encourage him to have a sleep study done if at all possible.
Georgia I wish you all the success in the world -- hopefully you can get a sleep study done but you have a head start on treatment. Good luck.

I know how you feel about that kind of stuff. I was weirded out knowing someone was watching me sleep all night. A guy did my sleep study. I was afraid I would kick the covers off, giving him a panty shot. So many weird things go through our mind. I had a room with a Jack/Jill bathroom, and I knew someone else was in the opposite room. I wondered who they were, and should I be concerned they would try to come in my room.GeorgiaPeach wrote:My biggest fear with the sleep study is that I'll be caught on camera scratching my butt or doing something else embarrassing . That, honestly is the primary reason why I've avoided going. . .
Quite honestly, my sleep study was the worst night of sleep I've ever had. A bad hangover felt better than the day after my sleep study. Was it worth it? YES! They were able to determine I was having up to 50 apneas an hour through part of the night.
I was turning in to a complete lunatic before CPAP therapy. I couldn't wait to get hooked up to the hose so I could feel better.
I didn't go back for another sleep study to determine titration. I told the doctor "No way!" I think it benefitted me in the long run because I got an apap. I'm happy with it.
