Thanks, Ozij. All the more impressive. When family doctors don't recognize symptoms of OSA even when a patient rips off a list of symptoms a mile long; to have a gastro, who is more intent on guiding the scope and visualizing what's going on in the colon than on the sedation or anesthesia the patient is receiving, is really impressive. Either that or the nurse anesthetist or the anesthesiologist tipped the gastro off. And even so, its impressive the gastro felt it important enough to mention it to the patient regardless of how she became aware of it happening.
You might say this gastro was observant of two ends of the spectrum (patient).
colonoscopy and day surgery

Good one, Slinky. My guess, and it is only a guess, is that this doctor has sleep apnea herself. She told me she notices a lot of sleep apnea when she has patients on the hose (yes, the other end of the spectrum) and does quite a few sleep study referrals. There is no telling how long my sleep apnea would have gone undiagnosed without this doctor being proactive.Slinky wrote:You might say this gastro was observant of two ends of the spectrum (patient).

Remember 9-11? On 9-12 I had my first Colonoscopy. One polyp failed to seal. I called their office, told them I was passing blood. No big deal I was assured.
Two days later I wound up in Cardiac ICU, my heart stopped twice, I was given a gallon of "Go Lightly" to drink in an hour (can't be done), they did the second colonoscopy to find the mistake and I finally recovered after they gave me blood. If you pass blood 3 times, CALL them and make sure you talk to a nurse. I was in the hospital 4 days before things got better.
Last summer I was at the National Jewish Hospital for a few weeks. They are the best Respiratory Hospital in the USA....for ten years. They had the Univ of Colorado put an implant in my heart without my BiPap machine being there. I had conscious sedation and Verset....they used morphine due to my reaction to Fentanyl. I was still awake enough to hear them discussing more sedation, so I told them to use Morphine, I have been on it almost 2 years. It worked and I recovered fine. Just had my 90 day Echocardiagram with Agitated Saline two days ago and the hole has sealed. No more desat blood crossing over in my heart.
And I have had the EGD and Colonoscopy at the same time. No problems, no BiPap machine needed for me, but you may be different.
