I feel like I am suffocating. Any ideas?

Post by Clem » Sun Apr 24, 2005 6:26 pm

I have been a bipap user for a couple of years, but for the past couple of months I have had difficulty breathing with the mask on. (It is also very difficult to get a good seal despite getting a new silicone seal.) Therefore, I have not been using the bipap machine and I am getting more tired and irritable by the day. I have an Ultra Mirage full face mask and I just had the machine's air flow checked and it was okay. Any ideas on what I should do next?

Maybe you can try a nasal mask? Just a suggestion - I would try the Activa by Resmed.

Are you washing the seal and your face? I have an Ultra Mirage but if I don't do both, the mask leaks... You didn't mention has your pressure changed at all? Full Face Masks can be a challenge at higher pressures...

Hi Mikesus:

Yes, I discovered the same problem, so I always wash my face at bedtime(and other times) and I clean the cushion each night as well. Thanks for your reponse.

Ooops. I forgot to say that my pressure has not changed, but I am at a higher level, I think, 13-10.
