S8 Elite Secret Manual?

Post by kennethryan » Sat Oct 20, 2007 10:55 pm

I just recently received my ResScan software and started gathering information on my sleeping from my S8 Elite machine. I see it includes a page of programming information for the machine (I haven't tried it but I suppose it's how you use the card to reprogram the machine).

I already know how to access the clinical menus on the machine (and do so with my doctor's blessing) but being the sort of person I am I like to learn everything I can about my equipment.

I went to ebay to buy the clinician's manual, but apparently the seller is on vacation or something. I haven't been able to locate another source for it.

Is there another source for the detailed manual?

Thanks in advance!

I saw that - as I said I already know how to access the menus. I also saw the "setup guide", the one that's 4 pages or so. I'm given to understand, though, that there is a larger manual that gives a lot more detail.

Again, my interest is academic, just wanting to learn all I can about my equipment. I'm an engineer (need more be said?), some of the equipment I design is used in life-critical applications (not medical, I'm not competing with Resmed). I consider part of my calling to learn as much as I can about technology, especially high-reliability equipment. Yes that includes user interfaces, expandability/maintainability, and so on.

If I could afford it, I'd buy a cpap machine just to take it apart. :-)

Not sure what you consider afordable ... but the forum sponsor's auction site has machines for much less than you may find elsewhere. Maybe you can find one there for autopsy.

As for the manual, mine (PDF) has a few more pages than just four ... actually more like 60 pages ... or 265 pages if you want to read it four times in English, French, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Check your PM box ...

What's the title of the manual? That's probably what I'm looking for...

There you go, Kenneth. Enjoy!

If you are after technical information about "what's inside the box", there is next to nothing published on that. All the manufacturers tend to hold that level of information very close.

There is information about "what it does", in terms of how the Resmed APAP algorithm works and how EPR works etc on various Resmed web sites.

Cheers,

Bill

Bill's right. None of the cpap manufacturers' manuals go into "what's inside the box" in any technical way.

Ken, if you'd like to have a manual anyway (for free) PM me your email address. I'll be glad to email you a PDF of the S7 Spirit clinical manual. Even though it's for an S7 autopap, you might find it interesting. If for nothing else than to see what's not in those kinds of manuals.
