420s going bad

Post by Janelle » Thu Apr 21, 2005 4:36 pm

This applies to ALL 420s. Read my post on the DME service and the symptoms I had on my machine. My RT has taken in and returned 15 420s of various kinds in the last month all with the same problem. He is no longer recommending them to anyone and if they insist he has them order them online.

Of course, now it is too late to return the one I just ordered, I guess.

If the ramp is switched ON in auto mode the unit performs a split nite study. Thats why it gives the indication you describe. No treatment pressure until 4 hrs have elapsed. Ramp should be off when in auto mode.

RG , Please correct me if I'm wrong.

420E

Ramp has to be off in auto. Mine is off, and I'm on auto, have no problems, except for me pulling my mask off, not the machine giving me problems.

What problems?

What's this about the Ramp and APAP not working together on the 420E? I use the ramp every night. The only thing that happens is that the machine doesn't start recording information until after the ramp period has ended. My records show that I'm getting the pressures I expect from the machine.

I don't think the 420e is set up to do a split night study. Perhaps the REMStar Auto or the AutoSet are...

Did I miss something? It wouldn't be the first time I'm confused!

No, you stated the 420e's AutoPAP compatible ramp function correctly, UKWS. It is the Remstar Auto that performs a split night study in AutoPAP mode if the ramp timer is set to a long enough duration.
