I to have the S7 Lightweight and I think my start up pressure is a little on the low side.

I would love to see how to reset the startting pressure.

Keep me informed, please.

It angers me to have to beg for this information after one BUYS this unit. So, I repost this to all the following.

Whatever you do, don't change the pressure setting on your Remstar CPAP by yourself, which could cause you to lose total dependance upon someone else for your health.

Please do not follow the following steps, because it will allow you to change your own settings and we all know that if you don't pay a doctor or sleep center to change the settings, dire consequences could result... the doctor won't be able to make payments on his 28 foot yacht.

1. DO NOT unplug your Remstar CPAP machine
2. DO NOT simultaneously hold down the two "left-right" arrow keys (below the display).
3. DO NOT keep holding them down for 3 seconds while you plug the machine back in.
4. When the machine then enters the clinician menu, DO NOT release the two arrow keys.
5. DO NOT use the other two "up-down" arrow keys on the left to navigate to the various menus.
6. DO NOT navigate to the "Pressure" menu and DO NOT change the pressure setting by using the "right-left" arrow keys.
7. Once you have set the desired pressure, DO NOT press the "on/off" power button to save the settings.

In other words, Do Not even use Cpap as it might cause danger to the doctor know matter what.

I love it.

Thank you for telling us what not to do.

You are most welcome.

I think a set of these instructions should be a part of our references for all machines. I am miffed that this is "underground" information. Of course we can all go to ebaY AND BUY OUR INSTRUCTIONS THE DME'S STOLE OUT OF THE BOX!

Will there be a trade show in the Milwaukee area this spring or summer? I cannot go into Chicago.

rock and roll, after TAS changed their board format, old links don't work.
Here's an updated link to a TAS post you may have had
in mind about the Remstar "don't's":

Aug 11 2004 subject: Remstar Pressure Settings - oh my

I'm not a doctor or health care person.
One of the few cautions I'd venture is this:
Sleep deprived people may not be the best
judge of what pressure they should use.

Going by "how we feel" might not be the best
basis for changing pressure either, especially if
years of sleep apnea have skewed what "normal"
would even feel like now.

That said, quite a few people (including me) have
gotten their treatment going right by making some
changes themselves. I'm sure there have also been
some who got it going wrong when they made their
own changes. Everyone's mileage varies.

I think it's essential to have the software (if the machine
can give more info than just "how many hours used") to
monitor your treatment if you plan to tweak it.

Ideally, a person will have a good doctor in the loop.
However, it's sometimes difficult to find a doctor who
truly understands the nuts and bolts of treatment with
these machines.

Severeena,

If you're still wanting to know how to adjust the ramping on the S7, here is how to do it. My DME showed me how, so I don't think it's a "no no". I would like to know, however, how "not to accidently increase my pressure", if anyone knows.

Turn the powere on; first it will display the ser. number, then it changes to the ramp menue. All you need to do is press the up/down button to adjust the ramp time from 0 to 30 minutes. Then put your mask on and press the button to start the air flowing.

Good luck.

I don't think adjusting the ramp time was the question. It was how to change the Pressure on the Resmed s7.

That is the question. I do not want to change anything until I know the ResMed and RemStar are compatible on the settings.

The Respironics and ResMed machines do not use
the same method for accessing or using the clinical
set up menu.

I don't know about the ResMed S7, but with the
ResMed Spirit auto I had for a few weeks:

Holding down the Left + Right arrow buttons
for at least 3 seconds gives access to the
"Clinical Menu Results" only. This does not allow
further navigation to other sections of the
clinical menu.

Holding down the Right arrow button + Up/Down
button for at least 3 seconds gives
full access to the "Clinical Menu".

While in a menu:

Up/Down button to scroll through items in that
level of the menu.

Left arrow button to enter a submenu and
apply a choice.

Right arrow button to navigate out of a menu or submenu
and to exit without changing options.

Of course a person should not change their pressure without consulting... a doctor.

Stephen, sorry if I misunderstood the question In the "Feeling of Suffocation" thread, she was talking about her ramp time being set for 15 minutes, and I thought she was still needing to know how to change that setting..
