The Joke Is On Me!

I'm on straight CPAP pressure of 8 cms. No Ramp, no EPR. Supplemented w/2L of 02.

When I checked my data yesterday morning I was amazed. Despite an AI of 0.1, I had an HI of 12.9. Say what? So I checked my entire setup. Everything was as it should be. The 02 tubing had been on for several months so I changed that and figured everything would be fine.

This morning I checked my stats and darn! AH of 0.0 but an HI of 11.2!!! What the devil? A good share of the night everything looked fine - then the last 2 hours or so of the night there was a DEFINITE raise in HIs.

So I checked everything out starting at the 02 concentrator. DUH! The 02 tubing had popped off the connector at the CPAP!!!

Welcome to MY WORLD!!!!!!! However, you really need to work up a sufficient frothing at the mouth MAD and curse out everyone around you, because whatever could be wrong is THEIR FAULT, and then discover it's your own bozo fault, to really fully appreciate why it sucks to be me alot of days...

Glad you found the leak and stopped it up! Now if only I could figure out how to stop up all the holes in MY HEAD!

its that door stop you are using, you need to bump it up to 9.0 cm.

Well, SnoreDog, I've played around w/the idea of cranking my WONDERFUL S8 Elite to 9 cms - but - prior to replacing the tubing and having the new tubing fall off of the input nipple I've had AHIs of 3.1 and AIs of 0.0 to AHIs of 4.2 w/an AI of 0.1 so .... since getting the Simplicity mask.

On the other hand .... I have this Resmed S8 AutoSet Vantage just sitting here beckoning to me .... I was thinking of trying 7 cms to 11 cms as a starting range to play with. I've had suggestions such as 8 cms to 15 cms and 8 cms to wide open 20 cms. I've just been too busy and too lazy to get the Vantage out and decide what range to start playing with. One of these days now that my 13 months capped rental on the Elite is completed .... I'll switch over to the Vantage and store the Elite as my backup.

Smarter than a 5th grader, Guest? Some nights, yes. Well, at least as smart as. Other nights?? Ha! Dumber than a rock!!!

John, that is information I am not comfortable sharing in a public forum. That is something better shared via Private Messaging or e-mail.

However, if you insist on learning to attempt changing your pressures or other options I STRONGLY suggest that the first time you go thru the Clinician's Menu you have a long piece of paper and pencil and you write down and map out each item before going on to the next one or making ANY changes. Especially do NOT play w/the Erase Data option!

That being said, what is there about opening my big fat mouth and bragging about my first anniversary on CPAP?? Its like that was an invitation for Murphy to appear out of nowhere and toss something new into the works!

I remember reading a post wherein someone's mask or xPAP was whistling at them.

Yeah, well, last night I was rudely awakened with this sharp, short whistle!!! It came from the right and I was pretty sure it wasn't from my mask. I groped for the 02 tubing and it seemed secure. I lay there debating dragging up the energy to get up and check the entire system out when ... son of a gun! Another very short whistle, not so loud and sharp as the one that woke me. What the devil?? Then another shorter, quieter whistle - coming from the very right corner of my mouth!!! A NEW form of "lip flutter"! And a new method of whistling. One I doubt I can figure out how to duplicate!

To heck with it, now that I knew what it was I'd worry about it another time, rolled over and went back to sleep for the rest of the night!

Just as life is never boring neither is sleeping w/xPAP and mask!!!!

When viewing a thread viewtopic.php?t=14049, it's good to remember that this is a forum where we talk about our individual therapy, and provided encouragement for one another.

However, as we're discussing our own treatment, as Slinky was, we are not prescribing treatment for others, nor are we advocating treatment without the wisdom and guidance of a physician.
