I love Teflon tape!!!!!!

Post by Rich03079 » Wed Oct 03, 2007 6:19 am

I love Teflon tape!!!!!! I have only been CPAP user for 2-weeks, but because of all the knowledge shared here!!!! I have gained such insight into using my CPAP machine which would had taken me much time to gain the knowledge so easily shared & exchanged here!!!!

Again my Mirage Quattro has been fine, but recently it did start to hiss air, and this makes it stressful because you are looking for an air-leak? My pressure is 17 so it hisses is good volume, but after learning about Teflon tape here!!! I put the Teflon on the mask’s elbow connector threads, and instant silent. So thank you all here for recommendation and suggestions all share!!!!

And I thought guys just loved their duct tape! I have the Quattro too, brand new, but I have the tape on hand in case.

I had read the teflon tape & Mirage Quattro here, and assumed maybe I was lucky. But did get hissy recently during week-3, and yes I am on 17, but first 2-week went well, and it got noticable louder. So since reading this CPAP forum I had to try the tape!!!! It was not loud, but when you hear hissing you are concern with leaks, and to limit leaks, and make it softer for my wife in bed, is more enjoyable softer noise for us both!!!!!

My brother has the Mirage Quattro, and I will surprise him when I tape his mask, to improve the seals.

Well, I'm guessing it should not do more harm than the teflon from your frying pan does...

Different usage time, I know I use it on my water supply connections when needed, but wonder if its used in the medical field, and approved.

Benifit of the tape out-weight any small/minor issue to consider here.

Beside that this is not in water like your use, and the tape if it does have has limited vapor's emitted. What about the vapor of the plastic mask we all use, what about the plastic humidifier tanks.

Also the Teflon tape has no warning label for use, so would consider no health issue, these are not like glues which have warning labels on the side for their vapor issues. So no warning label will consider it not issue myself.

Here is the MSDS safety sheet on Teflon tape

Under normal use it does not health hazard "zero" But it does if it is used in temps above 500 degrees applications...which CPAP is not.

I THINK it causes EYEBROWS to grow in CRAZY directions??
Or maybe BAD HAIR Days????

I'm sure SOMEBODY can find or post a REASON / Right or WRONG for anything used with your equipment---------------BUT------------ If it takes 20 years to kill you and OSA can get you in 5 years ......Who shives-a-get!
