Question for Seasoned Hybrid Users

Post by skits » Tue Oct 02, 2007 10:45 am

I'm questioning my decision to get the hybrid mask. The nasal pillows feel like they're blowing up my nose (like a balloon expanding). I feel like I'll end up with huge nasal holes (which are large and round enough already). Has anyone noticed that their nostrils are now larger? I know this sounds trivial and vain, and I don't mean it that way, but I'm really concerned about that. Is it normal to feel like your nose is inflated?

One two-hour bout last night and I can actually breath better today. I can't keep my hands off my nose today holding it closed so the nostrils don't "grow."

My explanation may be off, but I think someone who uses a hybrid will maybe understand.

Just keep at it with the Hybrid! I may be wrong but I don't think my nostrils got any bigger in over 6 months' usage. But just think--if they really are getting bigger you can use your other fingers to pick your nose now, giving your little finger a much-needed, much-deserved rest!

I gave up on the Hybrid and went to Activa nasal mask and Poildent strips.

I just want to go back to sleep!

The nostrils enlarging thing isn't permanent. They shrink back down over the day.

Yes, I wake up with slightly larger nostrils. They don't stay that way. I think it's more pronounced in people with soft squishy noses, like mine.

I use an NAII, and trust me, I know all about nostril engorgement.

Cheers,
B.

Sounds more like the Liberty than the Hybrid. They are NOT the same. The Liberty pushes against the nose to seal and the Hybrid has a nice chin cup that holds the mask in place and does not depend on something pushing up against the nose. The hybrid pillows are very soft like the Aura mask.

I do have the Mirage Liberty. The pillows are really soft and don't actually go up my nose, it's the air that's blowing that seems to blow up the nostrils.

Bad reviews for the Mirage Liberty?

It's just the two masks feel different on. One pushes up against the nose, one does not.
The inflating from the pillows cannot stretch out the nose.
If your happy with your mask and that is the only problem, your doing OK with it.

I felt that way for the first week or so, but I rarely get that sensation anymore and I am quite sure that my nostrills are no bigger than when I started.
