Here I go again. My first night after being fitted with a Mirage Liberty FF Mask. (Right now I have to have a FF because the other creeped me out as my mouth filled with air.) This mask has little nostril type things that are supposed (?) to just touch and seal (my words) to your nose. Worked great in the office and I could see (didn't like the double vision I got from the regular mask with the forehead thing) and thought I'd be able to maybe read before bed (on my stomach, no less). I never got that far. Went to bed at ten, tried to keep it on, finally figured out I had the tube backward (okay, still hope, my mistake). Got a little frustrated, lectured myself, put the &#$@# thing back on again. It was less noisy and mobile when it was connected right, but every time I took a breath I could hear it in my left ear (I had it sitting on the nightstand and I think I'm getting an echo from that -- plan to rearrange tonight.) That try lasted a few minutes. Thought maybe I could live through the noise, but then the nostril thingy's were driving me crazy. It feels like they're blowing up my nose -- no pun -- like a balloon. (Like in time I will look like a baboon).
Decided I'd adjust the little nostril thingys from a medium to a small. Didn't help, still felt like I was inflating. Whip the mask off. Lectured myself and tried for the third time and decided I just needed some sleep (two hours had passed). Woke this morning and tried it yet again thinking maybe an hour of "good" sleep was worth a shot. Whipped it again.
it seems to get the nose thingy not shoved all the way up my nose or not leaking I have to lower the mouth to where it's sitting on my teeth. This is a small mask and using the small nostril things...I'll try the large today too.
Mine is set at 5. It feels like I've hooked a vacuum up backwards and am shoving that up my nose. From what I've read 5 is pretty low, but I wish it was a 2.
So that concludes night 1. Today I'm going to rearrange some things, do a little manual reading and give it another shot. I have one night to fool with this, then I have to work and can't play around all night until the weekend.
My goal is to become an inventor -- as I'm sure is a normal feeling.
First night with APAP and FF (sort of) mask

first night
I've never used that mask, but I'm sure someone here will help you with it. I do use a nasal mask though. You do get used to the air blowing and the noise. It just takes time.
I'm 2 weeks on bipap, spending a lot of time on 10. It gets better every night. Even watching tv is a challenge for me, I forget to breathe, I guess I think the machine will do it for me.
Just keep trying & do what you have to do until the weekend. I gave up my first night too, I had to drive the next day & needed some sleep.
Good luck!
