Stomach feeling like it will explode

Post by Rockside » Mon Apr 18, 2005 8:56 am

Hello all. I bought the memory foam and my neck doesnt hurt as bad but now I feel like my stomach is going to explode and my right side of my chest was hurting. Any suggestions about this now? It is no wonder so many people stop using the cpap when it feels like one obstacle after the next.

Hi Rockside,

Which memory foarm pillow did you buy, and where did you get it?

If you are feeling gas in your stomach, you could be swallowing air during your sleep. Any way you look at it, when you have pain or discomfort, you should always call your doctor's office and let them know. You may need a machine with some sort of cflex feature, or a pressure decrease.

Regards,

Ted

APAP Solved the Problem for Me

I used to use a standard CPAP and had stomach pain/bloating (most likely from swallowing air). I recently switched to an Auto CPAP and no longer have the problem. Ask your doc about it.

Bloating

Post by WillSucceed » Wed Apr 20, 2005 8:30 am

I had terrible bloating -ended up in Emerg from the pain. Contrary to popular belief, C-Flex is not necessarily the answer. If you have trouble exhaling against the pressure, C-Flex could be helpful. However, if you are having bloating that is painful, this is likely because the pressure is more than you can tolerate and you are swallowing air upon inhalation.

I switched from a regular CPAP machine (RemStar Plus with C-Flex) to an autoPAP machine (PB 420E) and got immediate relief from the bloating. You might find it helpful to trial a couple of the autoPAP machines so as to find the one that works best for you. I suspect that you will find significant relief from the bloating.

Good-luck!
