If those are both non-M series machines, they both would treat exactly the same. They are the same machine except that the "2" provides detailed data and the non-M Pro without a 2 in its name does not provide any detailed data...just hours of use.kriminal wrote:one last question, is there a big difference between the remstar pro c-flex and the remstar pro 2 c-flex?
Unless money is so tight you have to go absolutely with the cheapest machine you can find, the minimum cpap machine I'd get is one of these, so that you could see detailed data about how your treatment is going:
The older non-M Respironics REMstar Pro 2
M series Respironics REMstar Pro (doesn't need a "2" in its name if it's the M-series machine.)
Puritan Bennett GoodKnight 420S or SP
resmed S7 or S8 Elite (because of resmed's online mandatory minimum pricing, this would probably be the most expensive unless you found a good deal on a used one.)
If you're not going to worry about being able to monitor your treatment with one of those machines which can give full data, I'd ask everyone you run into in your town, "Do you know anyone who uses a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, or anyone who has quit using their machine?" You might not have to ask very many people before you run into one who says, "Oh yeah, my brother has one of those but he never uses it." Bingo.
That's what I did when I got started. I had no prescription. I started asking around. A woman said her husband had just been given a newer one and the old one was in a closet. I got it.
