Hi,
Got on-line and eventually foudn this site. This is my first time posting.
I was diagnosed years ago with sleep apnea, and have never adjusted to using the CPAP machine. Tired of draggign myself thru the day, and also it is really sinking in the health risks I am taking in not using my machine (a friend had a stroke before they realized he had sleep apnea).
Have several problems, a mask that never fit right (air leaks around eyes), fighting the feeling of clastrophobia, acid reflux, and menopause (trouble falling asleep and night sweats).
I am going to a local hosptial for a sleep apnea information forum tonight, that shows the latest and greatest products. I don't know if I should be retested as it has been about four years sicne the last one.
Any helpful hints or suggestions? I feel like I have to start at square 1 again. Also have three old machines that were used only briefly.
Regards
KP
Have to Succeed This Time
Check into a nasal pillow type mask if you are not a mouth breather. I requested one at my second sleep study and found my salvation.
There are so many different problems involving this theropy that using the search feature of this site to start is a good idea. Narrow your questions down will also help.
I hope both that you start finding your answers from your forum tonight and from the friendly and knowledgible people on this site.

Welcomem, KP,
Read "Our collected wisdom" (click the yellow light bulb), and the cpap faqs (red balloon).
There's lots and lots of info on this board.
Did you know that acid reflux, trouble falling asleep and night sweats may be caused by sleep apnea?
Tell us about your machine, your mask and what you dislike about them. Do you use a heated humidifier?
Ask anything you want, you'll probably get answers and helpful suggestions for everything.
You're lucky and wise to have decided to return to your cpap.
3 old machines? How did you manage to collect them?
Do you still have your cpap Rx? Do you know the results of you sleep study?
O.

And now here is my secret, a very simple secret; it is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.
