Leave it to a ENT to come up with a new name for an already established procedure known as the GA:

Genioglossus advancement:

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

My old sleep doctor offered this as an option 15 years ago. Being a friend of my family, he reccomended against it. Said it was major surgery with long recovery period and no guarantee that it would help the apnea.
I just want to go back to sleep!

Hi,

I had my deviate septum and turbinets reduces twice and was great but recurrences can happen after years. But this GBAT was not recommended by my doctor due to no 100% of working fine to osa sufferers. This is the doctors experience for last 30 years in the industry. I think he got a valid point.

I agree that they are the same surgery. I had the surgery a number of years ago. It was done just like the description. I found an old report from the surgeon recently. He made a number of measurements of my head, throat, clearances, etc. before he did the surgery. I think he was trying to figure if it would work and how far to advance the tongue. The surgery did not cure the apenea or eliminate the need for cpap. It may have opened my airway some and reduced my pressure but I do not remember. I still use 18 - 19 cm pressure. I think my pressure was 10 or so a number of years ago. I have not had any long term problems from the surgery. I had the UV? surgery also. I have to make a real effort to eliminate mouth breathing or leaking but I am doing it successfully.
