REMstar humidifier running out of water

Well, well, well (more liquid humor), this thing about running out of water has me kicking and tickling the old grey matter.
If I set my humidifier where I had it before (5), I run out of water in something under 6 hours. At a setting of (4), I can get 6-7 hours of humid air with a little dry mouth. But to go 8 hours or longer, I would have to reduce the setting a lot more. Alternatively, overfilling the reservoir might do it or maybe a larger tank separate humidifier would do it. Maybe. To cover all possible sleep times, I would need a REALLY big water supply.
Then I thought of something. Suppose I put a separate heated humidifier in series with the integrated one. Then I would have twice the water supply (~28 oz) and twice the surface area. I could play around with the 2 temp settings to see what ran the longest and still kept my mouth wet.
Anybody ever tried that?

I'd wonder whether two humidifiers in-line would interfere with the way an autopap (or a bipap, for that matter) senses airflow. Might not make any difference, but I'd want to know about that first.
If you get the separate F&P HC 150, I don't think you'd have a bit of problem with having more than enough water to last a 9 or 10 hour night even with the heat adjustment turned up as high as it will go.
Another possibility to increase the amount of time water will last -- get the Aussie heated hose. Keeping the main air hose warm enough to prevent condensation will allow more heated humidified air to actually reach you instead of "raining out" inside a cold plastic hose. I found that I was able to turn my heated humidifier down quite a bit and still get the same nice humidification.

When I used the REMstarAUTO | M -Series | A -Flex, 2017 August 16 —- 2018 March 16, I used the Humidifier Setting Of 2Lineman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 04, 2007 11:33 amI fill the reservoir to the point of the arrow (below the wavy line) every night but in the morning it is bone dry (no leaks).
This is after about 6 hours of wearing the mask. I have the humidifier set to "5". I am breathing through my mouth and this is the setting that works best for me.
Is it normal to use that much water?
Can I fill the reservoir higher?
What happens if I put too much water in there?

Re: REMstar humidifier running out of water
Comparing water consumption between the newer (S9 and Respironics System One and newer) units and the M Series and older and S8 or older ....comparing apples and oranges. They simply don't work the same with the addition of the new ambient humidity sensors.
And that's with or without the heated hoses.
Waste of time.
